Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine

The NHS have initiated a new respiratory syncytial virus vaccination (RSV) programme. Patients who are aged between 75 and 79 (or have recently turned 80) are eligible for this vaccine.

Every year, thousands of people in this age group need hospital care for RSV. RSV is a virus that affects the lungs. It can cause serious illness like pneumonia.

You only need 1 dose for good protection, you will not need annual vaccines. Eligible patients will receive an invitation to book an appointment.

Unfortunately, the practice is only able to offer this vaccine to patients who fulfil the criteria.
