We have been made aware of a bogus caller/potential scammer who appears to have recently targeted an elderly person claiming to be from their GP Practice.
The call was from the number 01233 344 108.
During the call the patient was asked questions about health, mobility, joints and eyecare (i.e. the types of questions patients may expect to be asked when undergoing a health review).
The bogus caller went on to tell the elderly person that they needed eye tablets. When the patient asked if they would be added to their regular prescription, they were told that it would not. The bogus caller told the elderly person that they would need to pay them direct for the tablets. Thankfully, the patient was suspicious and did not pass on any payment details instead telling the caller they would rather visit to their GP Practice to discuss this medication.
The elderly person visited their GP Practice which is how the bogus nature of the call was brought to the attention of primary care.
Please be aware that we would not call patients on a weekend unless this has been pre-booked with the Practice. If in any doubt about a call you receive, please contact us. Please do not make any payments or give bank details over the phone. Your safety is important to us.
